How to Get Your Car Ready For the Show
At a car show, every detail matters. Whether you’re competing or just attending, you’ll want to make your best impression by arriving with a shine. A clean vehicle speaks volumes about the care you put into your car and the pride you have in being a part of the classic car community. Here’s our guide for getting your car spic and span before the show.
Detail the Interior
Start with a thorough vacuum and wipe down, followed by leather and dashboard conditioner to prevent cracks and give your interior a gorgeous sheen. With older vehicles, it’s also important to use gentle cleansers or plain water to avoid damaging aging materials.
Wash and Wax the Exterior
Insects, dirt, and tree sap can damage the delicate paint of a classic car faster than a newer vehicle with a fresh clear coat. Regularly washing and waxing your vehicle’s exterior can remove potentially harmful contaminants and prevent them from deteriorating metal parts and causing paint to bubble or lift.
Clean the Wheels and Undercarriage
Road grime, oil, and chemicals can deteriorate the underneath of a classic car quickly, potentially damaging its frame to the point of being unrestorable. Make sure to thoroughly wash the wheels and undercarriage after driving an older vehicle or before storing it for any period of time to prevent this from happening.
